Japanese tea farm since 1895
Good vibes, Good tea from Kakegawa, Shizuoka, Japan
“HIRANOEN” is a small family-owned tea farm which has inherited the skills of tea cultivation throughout five generations in 120 years, at Kakegawa-city, Shizuoka-prefecture, Japan.
We make “Fukamushi-cha”, meaning deep steamed type “Sencha”. “Sencha”is the most popular type of Japanese tea today in JAPAN made by steaming, rolling and drying tea leaves.
We are not a retailer or a wholesale dealer, but a tea farmer owning several tea gardens and producing tea by ourselves. That’s why we can supply our tea in high quality and in good value.
In general, Japanese tea is made by blending several farmers’ tea leaves, sometimes as many as a hundred.
But we only use self-made leaves. In addition we use only “Ichiban-cha” (meaning first harvest tea leaves, the highest quality in a year) contrast to wholesale dealers. They sometimes mix second or third harvest leaves for their items. Nowadays this “Farm tea” style is very rare in Japan.
We think that making good soil is very important for farming Japanese tea.
So we put a lot of work in making them.
We mainly use organic fertilizers and homemade composts, and also use wild grasses – cut and dried by ourselves - as manure.
In general, to make good and delicious Japanese tea, people use a lot of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. But we try to reduce them in consideration for environment, health, and sustainability.
We hope that our tea will become one of your favorite beverage.
Please enjoy it!
